Timber Machinist

Due to continued expansion and production workload, we are seeking experienced Timber Machinists to join our team. The roles include assisting with the production of bins and pallets by setting, operating, and maintaining planers, band saws and other machinery to cut, gauge, shape and grade timber.

Tumu Timbers Ltd is a locally owned and operated timber processing business based at Longlands, Hastings.  Our hours of work are Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week working either day or night shift.  Indicative shift times are as follows:

Dayshift:    5:00am – 3:30pm

Nightshift:    3:30pm – 2:30am

You will be guaranteed a minimum of thirty hours of work per week.

To be considered you will need to have a minimum of three years’ experience as a Timber / Wood Machinist or Machine Operator within a manufacturing or wood processing environment, sawmill, or similar.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are willing to work day or nightshifts
• Are resilient, self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Are physically fit - manual handling will be required
• Show good mechanical aptitude
• Can work safely within a fast-paced environment
• Have a track record of excellent punctuality and attendance
• Are motivated with good communication skills.

An indicative pay range for these roles is $26.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.
